The Old God and His Bird
This Viking Odin t-shirt shows the god in a three-quarter view, with a long braided beard and downcast gaze, a raven perched above him within a dark circle, and large red wings unfurling at the base of the design. It is the most intricate illustration in this department. Find this model in our Viking t-shirts collection.

What Sets This T-Shirt Apart
A close-up face is the most demanding motif: at this scale, the slightest flaw reads as a drawing error.
- Detailed face: the wrinkles, beard, and braids are constructed with lines, not suggested by masses—this is what holds the gaze up close.
- Red wings: the only color in the design, placed at the bottom, which serves as a base and prevents the figure from appearing to float on the garment.
- Overhanging raven: the bird closes the composition at the top and signifies, without text, which god this is.
- Cotton: such a fine illustration requires a regular surface and a soft drape.
If you are looking for Odin by his attributes rather than his face, the gold Sleipnir identifies him by his steed.
Choosing Your Size
The manufacturer does not provide a measurement chart for this model. Rather than leaving you without a reference, here is an estimated range, calculated from the two adult size charts documented for other models in this department. These are orders of magnitude, not guaranteed measurements—we prefer to state this clearly.
| Size | Flat Width | Chest Circumference |
|---|---|---|
| S | 49 to 51 cm | 98 to 102 cm |
| M | 51 to 54 cm | 102 to 108 cm |
| L | 53 to 57 cm | 106 to 114 cm |
| XL | 55 to 60 cm | 110 to 120 cm |
| 2XL | 57 to 63 cm | 114 to 126 cm |
| 3XL | 59 to 66 cm | 118 to 132 cm |
| 4XL | 61 to 69 cm | 122 to 138 cm |
| 5XL | 63 to 72 cm | 126 to 144 cm |
| 6XL | 65 to 75 cm | 130 to 150 cm |
The range widens for larger sizes because the two known charts diverge starting at XL: one increases by 4 cm per size, the other by 6.
The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Enter this number in the Flat Width column: no calculations needed. You are thus comparing a garment to a garment, without going through a theoretical size—and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of an equivalent size. When between two sizes, choose the larger one: this is the advice that prevents the most returns.
A note on the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, standard Western ready-to-wear hardly uses them: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL does not correspond to any common standard size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this department, a "L" can range from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not rely on the letter, rely on the centimeter.

Did you know?
Odin is one-eyed, and the myth says exactly what the eye paid for. In the Gylfaginning, Snorri recounts that he comes to drink at Mímir's well, under one of the roots of Yggdrasil, where wisdom resides. Mímir refuses the sip until Odin has left a pledge—and the pledge is an eye. The Völuspá confirms and specifies the location: the seeress knows that Odin's eye is hidden "in the famous well of Mímir," and that it is still there. This is not a war wound; it is a voluntary payment: the god of knowledge exchanged half his sight for wisdom, and he never got it back.

Is the design colorful?
Barely: gray and white for the figure, and red only for the outspread wings at the base of the design.
Is the design large?
Yes, it is the tallest illustration in the range: it runs from the top of the chest down to below the ribs.
Is the back printed?
No, the print is on the chest only.
