The Dragon Isn't on the Cup: It Holds It Up
The whole structure of this chalice rests on a rearing dragon that forms the stem all by itself, wings folded, jaws open upward, claws gripping a rocky base. The cup, in stone gray, bears a second, purple dragon carved in bas-relief. Two colors for the supporting dragon: emerald green or amber orange. 200 ml. Find it among our Viking chalices.
What Sets This Piece Apart
- Double wall: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable inner cup of food-grade stainless steel. Your drink only touches the metal.
- Fully sculpted stem: no column, no baluster — the dragon's body does all the work. It is the most original silhouette in the collection.
- Two dragons, two techniques: the one on the foot sculpted in the round, the one on the cup engraved flat in purple.
- Rocky base: the base imitates a stone outcrop, which widens the footprint and steadies the piece.
- Hand-applied patina: the recesses stay dark, the ridges catch the light. No two pieces are ever exactly identical.
Complete the table with our Viking tankards or a natural yak drinking horn.

Did You Know?
Footed cups did exist in the Viking Age — but they were not produced locally. The graves of Birka in Sweden and of Valsgärde have yielded glass beakers brought from the Rhineland, notably funnel beakers with flared bodies. Glass was a luxury product that traveled up the Rhine and then across the Baltic, and its presence in a burial signaled high rank. A notable detail: many of these beakers had no flat base. You could not set them down — you had to empty them.

Dragon, skull or warrior: which design to choose?
| Design | What the cup shows | Who to give it to |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon this product | Body coiled around the stem, wings spread, set gem; from smooth low relief to full sculpture | The widest and most crowd-pleasing choice: fantasy fans, gamers, collectors |
| Skull and bones | Curled horns, membranous wings, stacked vertebrae, friezes of small skulls | For a dark decor you already embrace, and for autumn and Halloween tables |
| Warrior and helmet | Bearded face or nasal helm in high relief, crossed axes, knotwork at the foot | The most understated and most historical register: saga readers, fans of Viking series |
| Raven | Red-eyed bird perched on a skull, frieze of feathers and small bones | A targeted gift, for someone who recognizes Huginn and Muninn without being told their names |
| Goat and pentagram | Baphomet head inside a pentagram on a red background, frieze of skulls | An occult, non-Norse register, for those who embrace this imagery; 600 ml, a 500 ml bottle plus the head |
Is the dragon stem sturdy?
Yes. It is cast in one piece with the cup and the base, with a thick core inside the dragon's body. Just avoid dropping it.
What is the difference between the green and the orange?
Only the patina of the dragon that supports the cup. The gray cup and the engraved purple dragon are identical in both versions.
Is the piece stable?
Yes, the rocky base is wide and flat. It stands without tipping over, even when full.
How do I care for it?
Remove the steel liner and hand-wash it in lukewarm water. Use a damp cloth for the outside and a soft brush between the scales. Never put it in the dishwasher.
