A Pattern Better Guessed Than Seen
This Viking tank top prints its Vegvísir and interlace patterns in a gray just barely lighter than the black background. The design covers the entire garment—front, back, and sides—but only reveals itself at a distance of one meter. The knit contains elastane and moves with you. Find it in our Viking tank top collection.
The other stretchy model in the department, with significantly more contrast, is the two-tone Runic Valknut.
What Sets This Tank Top Apart
A tone-on-tone pattern requires a precise color balance: too subtle and it disappears, too bold and it’s no longer tone-on-tone.
- A calculated contrast: the gray of the pattern is just barely above the black of the background—enough to be seen up close, not enough to be noticed from afar.
- Stretchy knit: one of only two in the department to contain elastane.
- Full coverage: front, back, and sides, with no plain areas or breaks at the seams.
- The most discreet of the sixteen: the one you'll wear most often, at the gym and everywhere else.
For the same symbol treated in gold and perfectly visible, see the gold Vegvísir.

Did you know?
Deep black was a difficult color to obtain before synthetic dyes. Scandinavian dyers achieved it through layering—a base of indigo derived from woad, followed by a bath of iron tannin—and the result always leaned toward blue or very dark brown. In fact, textile fragments found at Hedeby and Birka show a much more colorful palette than one might imagine: madder reds, weld yellows, and woad blues. The all-black Viking costume is a movie trope.

Which tank top to choose?
| Type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| All-over print, black and white | The design covers the whole garment, front and back, in two bold tones without color. | The core of the range: nine designs, from S to 6XL, the widest size range of the three families. |
| All-over print, gold or color | The same full coverage, but with gold, brick red or slate blue. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Four models, the most striking in the series, and the only ones that go beyond black and white. |
| Stretch knit or muscle cut this product | Two models whose knit contains elastane and moves with you, plus one muscle-cut model that covers the shoulder. | When the garment is really for training, or if thin straps don't suit you. Note: the muscle cut stops at 2XL. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the tank tops in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a tank top or a T-shirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
Available sizes vary by model. Thirteen tank tops go from S to 6XL, two from S to 5XL, and the muscle-cut one stops at 2XL. Check the drop-down list on the product page before ordering: it is the one that counts.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Is the design really visible?
Up close, yes. It is a tone-on-tone treatment: the Vegvísir and the knotwork are printed in a gray barely lighter than the black background. From three meters away, you see a black tank top.
What does the spandex add?
Stretch: the knit moves with you instead of restricting you. Only two models in our range contain it.
Does the design cover the whole garment?
Yes, front, back and sides, with no plain area.
How far up does the sizing go?
From S to 5XL, which makes eight sizes.
