What Sets This Pair Apart
On a stripped-down design, the stone is alone on stage: it has to be well cut.
- Generous stone: the zircon is wider than on our other classic studs, which makes the color more present.
- Invisible setting: the bezel disappears behind the stone; from the front, only the four prongs can be made out.

Did You Know?
Contrary to what popular imagery suggests, the Vikings were a people of silver, not gold. Scandinavian hoards are overwhelmingly made up of silver — Arab coins, arm rings, hacksilver — and gold remains marginal. Hence the importance of a recent Danish find: the Vindelev hoard, unearthed in 2020 near Jelling, nearly a kilo of gold buried in the 6th century. Among its bracteates, those stamped gold medallions, one bears a runic inscription that caused a sensation in 2022: it refers to a man as “Odin's man.” To date, it is the oldest known mention of Odin's name — it pushes back the first written record of the god by about a century and a half, on an object that fits in the palm of your hand.

Is the setting gold-tone too?
No, it's silver-colored stainless steel. The stone alone brings the yellow, which creates a sharper contrast than an all-one-color piece.
How big is the stone?
About six millimeters, a little wider than our other classic studs. That makes the color noticeably more present.
Did the Vikings wear gold?
Much less than silver, which by far dominates the hoards. Gold remains rare — hence the importance of the Vindelev hoard, discovered in Denmark in 2020, which yielded the oldest known mention of Odin's name.
