A Dragon Coiled Around a Blade
This dragon does not guard a treasure: it guards a sword. The blade runs vertically down the stem, and the dragon's blue body winds around the guard before climbing back up over the bowl. A clear gem is set at the center of the pommel. Gold-tone highlights on midnight blue: this is the most colorful of our Viking chalices. Find it in our collection of Viking chalices.
What Sets This Piece Apart
- Double wall: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable food-grade stainless steel inner liner. Your drink touches only metal.
- Sword built into the stem: the blade is a structural part of the base. It is neither removable nor fragile, and its edges are rounded.
- Three tones: midnight blue for the dragon, silver for the blade, gold for the guard and highlights. This is the piece that stands out most on a dark table.
- Gem in the pommel: set on the front, at the center of the composition.
- Weighty in the hand: 442 g empty. A far cry from a costume-party cup.

Did You Know?
Viking Age swords were not anonymous objects: they bore names. Gramr, the sword with which Sigurðr slays the dragon Fáfnir in the Saga of the Völsungs, had been broken and then reforged. Skofnung, the sword of Hrólfr Kraki, was said to be the finest blade ever carried in Scandinavia. And archaeology confirms this value: more than a hundred Scandinavian blades have been unearthed bearing the inscription +VLFBERH+T, forged from crucible steel of a purity that Europe would not be able to reproduce for centuries. Such a sword was worth the price of an estate.

Dragon, skull or warrior: which design to choose?
| Design | What the cup shows | Who to give it to |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon this product | Body coiled around the stem, wings spread, set gem; from smooth low relief to full sculpture | The widest and most crowd-pleasing choice: fantasy fans, gamers, collectors |
| Skull and bones | Curled horns, membranous wings, stacked vertebrae, friezes of small skulls | For a dark decor you already embrace, and for autumn and Halloween tables |
| Warrior and helmet | Bearded face or nasal helm in high relief, crossed axes, knotwork at the foot | The most understated and most historical register: saga readers, fans of Viking series |
| Raven | Red-eyed bird perched on a skull, frieze of feathers and small bones | A targeted gift, for someone who recognizes Huginn and Muninn without being told their names |
| Goat and pentagram | Baphomet head inside a pentagram on a red background, frieze of skulls | An occult, non-Norse register, for those who embrace this imagery; 600 ml, a 500 ml bottle plus the head |
Is the sword removable?
No, it's sculpted in one piece with the base of the chalice. It's a structural element, not an add-on accessory.
Is the blade sharp?
Not at all. It's molded resin with rounded edges, with no cutting edge whatsoever. The chalice can be handled without any special precautions.
What is its capacity?
About 200 ml, the equivalent of a generous glass of wine, for a height of 18 cm and 442 g empty.
Does the gilding fade over time?
No, as long as you avoid the dishwasher, hot water and abrasive sponges. A damp cloth on the outside and hand washing the steel liner are enough to preserve it.
