The Eye Given for Wisdom
This Viking tank top features the face of Odin across the entire chest, with beard and hair braided in golden interlace, and only one eye open — rendered in blue, the garment's sole splash of color. On the back, a golden round shield brings together two confronting ravens, two crossed axes, and a Valknut. Find it in our Viking tank top collection.
For a warrior face rendered in red and gold rather than gold alone, see the red model.
What Sets This Tank Top Apart
An interlace face can easily get lost in its own knots. Here, the design remains immediately legible.
- One eye, and it stands out: the only color on the garment is placed exactly where the gaze will fall. The detail tells the myth without a line of text.
- Matte gold, not shiny: the ink retains its texture instead of reflecting light—avoiding a costume-like effect.
- A back as worthy as the front: the shield combines four distinct elements, whereas many prints simply repeat the front design.
- Nine sizes: from S to 6XL.
For another golden treatment, more abstract in style, see the gold Vegvísir.

Did you know?
The Völuspá does not say that Odin lost his eye: it says he deposited it. The poem uses the verb fela, meaning to hide or entrust, and places the eye in Mímir's well, where it remains as a pledge. Snorri specifies that the god took a drink in exchange. The nuance is significant: it is neither a wound nor an accident, but a voluntary deposit—and there is no indication in the texts that it was ever retrieved.

Which tank top to choose?
| Type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| All-over print, black and white | The design covers the whole garment, front and back, in two bold tones without color. | The core of the range: nine designs, from S to 6XL, the widest size range of the three families. |
| All-over print, gold or color this product | The same full coverage, but with gold, brick red or slate blue. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Four models, the most striking in the series, and the only ones that go beyond black and white. |
| Stretch knit or muscle cut | Two models whose knit contains elastane and moves with you, plus one muscle-cut model that covers the shoulder. | When the garment is really for training, or if thin straps don't suit you. Note: the muscle cut stops at 2XL. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the tank tops in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a tank top or a T-shirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
Available sizes vary by model. Thirteen tank tops go from S to 6XL, two from S to 5XL, and the muscle-cut one stops at 2XL. Check the drop-down list on the product page before ordering: it is the one that counts.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Why does Odin have only one eye in this design?
Because that is how the texts describe him: he gave an eye to drink from Mímir's well and gain wisdom. The design keeps the left eye, rendered in blue, the only touch of color on the garment.
What is on the back?
A gold round shield with two facing ravens, two crossed axes, a Valknut and the word “Viking”.
Is the gold shiny?
No, it is a matte gold ink. No raised texture, no glitter.
Does this model stand out a lot?
Along with the red and gold model, it is one of the two most eye-catching in the section: gold on black can be spotted from far away.
