A Cut That Covers the Shoulder
This Viking tank top is the only one in the department to feature a muscle cut: the shoulders remain covered, and the armholes drop low and straight, like a T-shirt with the sleeves removed. The design is unique and centered — a runic compass whose base extends into raven wings, drawn in splashed black ink. Everything else is plain white. Find it in our Viking tank top collection.
For a raven design on a light background but as an all-over print, see the spread wings model.
What Sets This Tank Top Apart
Two fundamental differences, not just simple design variations.
- Muscle cut: the shoulder is covered, the armhole is straight and low. It is a different garment from the other fifteen, not just another print.
- Placed print: a single design centered on a plain background — the only one in the department that is not printed over its entire surface.
- Splashed ink: the outline mimics smudged ink, a tattoo vocabulary rather than engraved ornamentation.
- Five sizes: from S to 2XL, the shortest range in the department — please check before ordering.
To stay on a light background with much more detail, see the raven triskelion.

Did you know?
The only direct evidence of body markings among the Scandinavians comes from an Arab diplomat. Ahmad ibn Fadlan, sent by the Caliph of Baghdad, encountered the Rūs on the Volga in 922 and noted that each one was covered, from their fingernails to their necks, with green patterns depicting trees and other shapes. The term he uses is difficult to translate — dye, tattoo, or paint, translators have been debating it for a century. With no skin having survived, this paragraph remains the only source, and it is ambiguous.

Which tank top to choose?
| Type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| All-over print, black and white | The design covers the whole garment, front and back, in two bold tones without color. | The core of the range: nine designs, from S to 6XL, the widest size range of the three families. |
| All-over print, gold or color | The same full coverage, but with gold, brick red or slate blue. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Four models, the most striking in the series, and the only ones that go beyond black and white. |
| Stretch knit or muscle cut this product | Two models whose knit contains elastane and moves with you, plus one muscle-cut model that covers the shoulder. | When the garment is really for training, or if thin straps don't suit you. Note: the muscle cut stops at 2XL. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the tank tops in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a tank top or a T-shirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
Available sizes vary by model. Thirteen tank tops go from S to 6XL, two from S to 5XL, and the muscle-cut one stops at 2XL. Check the drop-down list on the product page before ordering: it is the one that counts.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
How does the cut differ from the other tank tops?
It is a muscle cut: the shoulders are covered and the armholes drop low and straight, like a T-shirt with the sleeves removed. The fifteen other models have thin straps.
Is the design printed over the whole garment?
No. It is the only model in the section with a placement print: a single design in the center of the chest, while the rest of the garment is plain white.
What does the design depict?
A runic compass whose lower part extends into raven wings, rendered in splattered black ink, tattoo-style.
How large do the sizes go?
From S to 2XL, five sizes in all — the shortest size range in the section.
