Two Crossed Axes, Two Skulls Below
This Viking sweatshirt is the most straightforward in the range: two axes crossed in an X at the center of the chest, bright blades pointing upward, and two stylized skulls placed beneath, all rendered in a tattoo style against a background of dark interlacing patterns. The back changes the subject, featuring a composition of knots and runes instead. Find it in our Viking sweatshirt collection.
For skulls hidden within the ornament rather than displayed prominently, see the Skulls and Yggdrasil model.
What Sets This Sweatshirt Apart
The tattoo style requires a thick and confident line: this is what distinguishes it from an illustrative drawing.
- Tattoo linework: thick outlines, line shading rather than gradients—the graphic vocabulary is consistent from start to finish.
- The only weapon in the range: out of twenty-six models, this is the only one to feature an axe.
- Different front and back: the back abandons the skulls for interlacing patterns, which avoids a repetitive effect.
- Blended knit: acrylic, polyester, and elastane, softer than polyester alone.
For the same family of imagery but with a tongue-in-cheek approach, see the Valhalla-la Christmas sweatshirt.

Did you know?
The most feared Viking axe was not a woodsman's tool but the breiðøx, the broad-bladed Danish axe, mounted on a handle one to one point two meters long and wielded with two hands. The Bayeux Tapestry shows several in the hands of Anglo-Saxon huscarls—descendants of a guard of Scandinavian origin. Its very thin blade, sometimes less than two millimeters at the edge, made it light and fast, but fragile: it was a specialist weapon, not a versatile raid tool.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork this product | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Are the skulls realistic?
They are drawn in tattoo style: thick lines, line shading, no anatomical realism. Two skulls sit side by side at the bottom of the chest, below the axes.
How many axes are there?
Two, crossed in an X at the center of the torso, blades pointing up. They are rendered in a light color on the dark background.
Does the design also cover the back?
Yes, with a different composition: the back has knotwork and runes, without the skulls.
Is this sweatshirt right for someone who prefers a low-key look?
No, it is one of the boldest in our range. The black and gray runic medallion model is the opposite choice, with a comparable density of design.
