A Skull Caught in the Frost
The blue patina of this chalice is applied as a veil over a silver base, giving the entire piece a frozen appearance. In the center, a skull with hollow eye sockets and a single red eye is framed by two spread wings. The stem features a crown of small skulls at mid-height, and the base is engraved with interlacing patterns. Find it in our collection of viking chalices.
What Sets This Piece Apart
- Double wall: an outer shell made of sculpted resin and a removable inner cup made of food-grade stainless steel. Your drink only touches the metal.
- Veiled patina: the blue allows the silver to show through on the edges, like frost on metal.
- Crown of skulls on the stem: it also serves as a grip for the hand at mid-height.
- Single red eye: a single warm point in an entirely cold piece.
- Hand-applied patina: the hollows remain dark, while the edges catch the light. No two items are ever strictly identical.

Did you know?
Before the gods and before men, there was only Ginnungagap, the yawning void stuck between the cold of Niflheim and the fire of Muspellheim. Where the two meet, the ice melts and gives birth to Ymir, the first of the frost giants. Odin and his brothers would eventually kill him and build the world with his body: his flesh became the earth, his bones the mountains, his blood the seas, and his skull the vault of the sky, held at the four corners by as many dwarves. A skull, in this cosmogony, is not a symbol of death: it is a framework.

Dragon, skull or warrior: which design to choose?
| Design | What the cup shows | Who to give it to |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon | Body coiled around the stem, wings spread, set gem; from smooth low relief to full sculpture | The widest and most crowd-pleasing choice: fantasy fans, gamers, collectors |
| Skull and bones this product | Curled horns, membranous wings, stacked vertebrae, friezes of small skulls | For a dark decor you already embrace, and for autumn and Halloween tables |
| Warrior and helmet | Bearded face or nasal helm in high relief, crossed axes, knotwork at the foot | The most understated and most historical register: saga readers, fans of Viking series |
| Raven | Red-eyed bird perched on a skull, frieze of feathers and small bones | A targeted gift, for someone who recognizes Huginn and Muninn without being told their names |
| Goat and pentagram | Baphomet head inside a pentagram on a red background, frieze of skulls | An occult, non-Norse register, for those who embrace this imagery; 600 ml, a 500 ml bottle plus the head |
Is the blue uniform?
No, and that's intentional. The patina is applied as a wash and then wiped off the raised areas, so the intensity varies slightly from one piece to another.
Can you drink from it?
Yes. The inner liner is made of food-grade stainless steel and comes out completely. Your drink never touches the resin.
Is it suitable for Halloween or a themed party?
It's one of the most requested models for that, along with the horned skull chalice. It still works all year round, though, since blue has fewer connotations than black.
How do I clean it?
Wash the steel liner by hand, wipe the outside with a damp cloth, and use a soft brush between the skulls on the stem. Never put it in the dishwasher or microwave.
