A Nocturnal Bird of Prey Looking You in the Eye
This owl ear cuff features the bird facing forward, with its facial disc feathers engraved in a fan shape and two red zircons set as eyes. The piece clips onto the cartilage without any need for piercing. Find this product in our Viking earrings collection.
For another animal cuff, the lion head cuff plays the same frontal portrait card.
What Distinguishes This Piece
A cuff must hold onto the cartilage without squeezing, and be put back in place with one hand.
- No piercing: the open ring slides onto the edge of the ear and closes via simple elasticity.
- Set eyes: the two red stones are embedded in the metal, not glued to the surface.
- Adjustable opening: the width can be adjusted with your fingertips to adapt to the thickness of your cartilage.
- Stainless steel: withstands sweat and wet hair without tarnishing.
If you are looking for something more understated for the same spot, the three-twisted-ring cuff is very subtle.

Did you know?
The owl is not Odin's bird—it is the ravens Huginn and Muninn that sit on his shoulders and report to him what is said in the Nine Worlds. The association between the owl and wisdom is Greek, not Norse: it is Athena's bird, and the silver tetradrachms minted in Athens starting in the 5th century BCE featured an owl so recognizable that the currency itself was called "an owl" in Mediterranean trade. The motif therefore comes to us from Athens, not Uppsala. Nevertheless, the owl is still present in Scandinavia: the great grey owl and the snowy owl still nest there.

Does the cuff stay on without a piercing?
Yes, it clips onto the edge of the cartilage and holds thanks to the springiness of the metal. If it feels too loose or too tight, very gently squeeze or open the ring between your thumb and index finger.
Is the owl a Viking symbol?
No. Odin's birds are the ravens Huginn and Muninn. The association of the owl with wisdom is Greek and comes from Athena. We'd rather tell you that than invent a Norse origin for this motif.
Is it worn on the lobe or higher up?
It's made for the cartilage, on the outer rim of the ear, roughly halfway up. It can also sit on a thick lobe, but it will be less stable there.
Do you get a pair?
Yes, you receive two cuffs. Many customers wear just one, on the opposite ear from a classic earring — nothing requires you to wear them together.
